Sounds like a great boost for the airport.

I just hope Ryanair don't drive out the all competition. It wouldn't surprise me if he repeated his previous demands for free landing once the routes are established and the competition in bits.

Unlike before he'll have a much bigger rug to pull out from underneath the airport and may get things more his way.

You can't turn down that kind of business though.

@suzyblew; @Peter Jacobs and everybody else who will come on saying the same (but secretly price checking Ryanair with every flight they book), if you treat Ryanair as you would treat a bus journey, you'll never be dissapointed.

Think about it, if you've ever had the pleasure of taking the MegaBus to London, it takes about 5 hours. More than most Ryanair routes. When onboard, I dont expect a smile from the driver, I dont expect anybody to whizz up and down the aisle with a food and drinks trolley, and you know what, the (always) broken toilet door swinging open and closed the whole way from here to London doesn't actually piss me off that much. Why? because I paid 50p.

The sooner people lose the 'romance' of what air travel USED to be, and move into the year 2000, and treat it like you would the underground/ stagecoach/ national express etc.. then you wont be disapointed.

Why does service have to be a part of flying? Bring your own food, if you can't survive a 3 hour flight without eating. Bring your laptop or iPod/ Pad and watch a film, and hey presto, you've arrived, fed and entertained, and for way less than some of the other alternatives, frequently worse than Ryanair.

And finally, no, I dont work for them. Although I would very much like to Mr O'Leary. Business genius, and whether we will all admit it (especially the 'I'll never fly' brigade), he has revolutionised the entire airline iindustry in Europe, and not just low cost.

Agreed - treat them like a 'flying' bus and for the price it cannot be beaten.
Been to Dublin and back for 1 or 2 nights with just hand luggage, checked in online and no problems at all - all for £10 return.
Also pretty good on-time service as well unlike some of the other airlines......
Will definitely be looking at some of these other routes......

Respect to O'Leary for what he has achieved financially, but I do not choose to partake of his lowest common denominator service. Its not the lack of frills I object to, it's the utter contempt shown to his customers.

While I do not say I would never fly Ryanair, I can certainly say I would never fly them if there were an alternative carrier to my destination, irrespective of price.

I am happy to pay a higher price if it means I am not treated like shit.

Agree with John. Am happy to fly with budget airlines and have done frequently especially when it means a direct flight. However it is the treatment one receives that I object to.

Oh and I never bought the NOTW either!

I would have Ryanair anyday over Thomas Cook. Ive flown with them loads of times and not once has the flight been delayed which to me is the most important thing. Flown 8 times with Thomas Cook and not 1 flight has been on time. Last week they flew us back to Humberside instead of Manchester cos the flight was 2 full. Eerm lets think mcr flight overbooked humberside flight not even half full y allocate the bigger plane to Humberside Doh! Hurray for Ryanair I say lets hope it causes greater competition
