FINNAIR and Manchester Airport marked the 20th anniversary of flights from the airport to Helsinki airport and then onwards to the Finnish national airline’s wider Asia network.
They began flying passengers from Manchester airport on 27th March 1994 (via Stockholm originally) and today fly twice daily. It is increasingly more important for the North West’s trade routes to Asia especially China, where Finnair has five destination cities, including Xi’an, Chongqing, Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
This season Finnair launched flights to Xi’an China (Terracotta Warriors destination) and Hanoi Vietnam, increasing the destinations in Asia to 13 cities. The airline's service and timetables are optimised for transfer traffic between these cities and Manchester airport. www.finnair.com
