Gramp it up this summer

GRAMPING it up this summer? Taking Grandad and grandma along? You’re not alone apparently. An increasing number of families are holidaying this year with three generations on board. That’s according to a survey by Eurocamp, who have coined the term, following so-called "glamping", glamorous camping.

The chalet and camping market leader said it had seen bookings from extended family groups increase by as much as 325 per cent over the past two years, figures backed up by netmums, the parenting website, found that 75 per cent of 1,000 families they surveyed were planning a summer holiday with grandparents this year.

Eurocamp’s parenting expert, Polly Beard, author of “I’m Bored!” and “I’m Bored… Again!” parenting books, said of the Gramping trend:  “Sharing some relaxation, laughter and cherished holiday memories helps build up and strengthen family bonds.  It's these moments that allow you to really appreciate what and who you have around you, and not take anything or anyone for granted.  And you never know, the grandparents may just be happy to babysit, yet again, so that parents can treat themselves to a few hours off.  Perfect!”

A seven night break from May 14 with Eurocamp at L’Etoile d’Argens on the French Riviera, costs just £357 for the whole family – staying in a 3 Bedroom 2 bathroom Sunlight mobile home, plus decking, (accommodates a maximum of 6 adults), accommodation only. Price includes Eurocamp’s Grandparents Go Free offer.
