Ibiza Rocks rules the Balearics

GENIUS ideas don’t have to be complicated. Take Ibiza Rocks. You’re running one of the coolest musical parties on the planet. Featuring some of the greatest acts around. On Ibiza, a must-see destination. You’ve got your own fashion label and travel company as part of the Ibiza Rocks brand.

A hot ticket doesn’t begin to describe it. Then you take it one step further. You create a hotel that doubles up as the venue. Perfect for combining the perfect San Antonio chill-out holiday with a ringside seat for the weekly Ibiza Rocks gigs. As we said, genius.

Guests with stage view studios can check out the action from the comfort of their own balcony, sipping a cocktail under the stars. Then spend some of their time there exploring the many delights of the Ibiza scene or just laze round one of the hotel pools or bars.

The beach is just 250m away and the fabled Sunset Strip 400m and 500m respectively.

If Mallorca’s more your scene, then there’s an offshoot there called Mallorca Rocks, naturally. It’s in Magaluf (www.ibizarocks.com) and just as exciting a venue for the summer long series of 17 weekly gigs, kicking off in Mallorca on May 31 and Ibiza on June 1.

Plan B, just crowned Best British Solo Artist at The Brits, headlines at both 2011 launch parties. The London born rapper, real name Ben Drew, had a stunning 2010 which saw his second album, The Defamation of Strickland Banks, rule the airwaves. Now he aims to conquer the Balearics.

He told Confidential: “This is going to be fun. I've never been to Ibiza before. I’d better start working out what I'm going to wear now, it's going to be hard to make speedos work with my suit jacket.”

Warming up the crowd for Plan B we have an MC who we're sure will be a future headliner of the 'Rocks stage - Wretch 32. The MC from Tottenham, currently supporting Example on his massive UK tour, is one of Grime's hottest crossover prospects and was this year named as BBC Soundpoll´s one to watch for 2011 while his single 'Traktor' stormed the top ten of the UK charts.

He'll also be joined on the night by resident DJs Doorly and Nicola Bear, who are back for another year of dancefloor killing carnage.

Throughout the summer Ibiza Rocks will be joined by Biffy Clyro, Friendly Fires, Tinie Tempah, The Vaccines, Fatboy Slim, Dizzee Rascal, Chase and Status, Example, The Wombats, Magnetic Man, and Madness.

2010 featured live performances from The Prodigy, Florence and the Machine, The Specials, Dizzee Rascal, Chase & Status, The Kooks, LCD Soundsystem, Pendulum, Soulwax, Pete Doherty, Ian Brown and many more. Radio One also returned to the Ibiza Rocks Hotel for their famous Ibiza Weekend for the third year in a row.

The line-ups throughout summer 2011 are guaranteed to maintain the same level of A-list musical action – on Tuesday nights on Mallorca, Wednesdays on Ibiza.

Ibiza is great, however for some reason most Brits seem to congregate around San Antonio - which is really not the coolest part of the island!
