Norwegian Adds New Routes From Manchester

NORWEGIAN is adding three weekly departures from Manchester to Oslo Gardemoen from the 31st October 2011.

The airline already has an existing flight schedule of 89 direct weekly flights from the UK to nine Scandinavian and Nordic destinations, but claims the huge interest in Norway for the big Premiership football teams in the North West has triggered the expansion.

“European connections to major capitals like Oslo are an important part of the network offering from Manchester."

The routes are also aimed at business and leisure travellers who want to access Oslo and other key points in the Norwegian domestic and Scandinavian network.

“The instant success with the London route has triggered our desire to offer increased flexibility to our passengers,” said Daniel Skjeldam, chief commercial director of Norwegian.

“In order to be a competitive player and an attractive alternative for business travellers, it’s important to increase the number of daily flights while keeping low fares,”

Norwegian, Scandinavia’s second largest airline and Europe’s fourth largest low cost carrier offers more than 90 direct weekly flights from London Gatwick and Edinburgh to Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger, Alesund and Trondheim in Norway, Copenhagen and Aalborg in Denmark and Stockholm in Sweden and offers onward connections to its large domestic and intra Scandinavian network.

Andrew Harrison, managing director of Manchester Airport, said: “European connections to major capitals like Oslo are an important part of the network offering from Manchester.

“We’re pleased that the popularity of Manchester as a tourist destination is available to an increasing number of visitors who are coming to see teams like Manchester City and United. There is so much to see here in the North West and we’re delighted to see Norwegian arriving in Manchester.”
