Gilpin Hotel And Lake House, AA Hotel Of The Year 2011

GILPIN Hotel & Lake House in Windermere was named AA Hotel of the Year for England at the AA Hospitality Awards 2011 - 2012.

Gilpin Hotel has had links with the Cunliffe family for five generations and is set in 22 acres of country gardens, moors and woodland.

AA Hotel Services manager, Simon Numphud, said, “It would be difficult to find a finer example of a truly outstanding, family run, country house hotel in the UK. Gilpin is a superb hotel that places its staff and hospitality at the very heart of everything it offers and it is truly deserving of this award.”

Proprietors Barney and Zoe Cunliffe received the award in front of an audience of over 700 members of the hospitality industry, at the London Hilton Park Lane.

Gilpin Hotel has had links with the Cunliffe family for five generations and is set in 22 acres of country gardens, moors and woodland. Having achieved and maintained four Red Stars since 2007, the hotel has shown consistency in the kitchen as well, with three AA Rosettes achieved yearly from 1997 to the present day.

The Lake House is a stunning addition to the main hotel, set by a lake and featuring a pool and cedar wood hot tub whilst all spa treatments, such as chocolate wrap or an Indian head massage are carried out in your own room.

Rates at Gilpin Hotel & Lake House (also highly recommended by the weekender’s bible Good Hotel Guide) are from £290 per night including Dinner, Bed and Breakfast; based on two sharing. Gilpin Hotel & Lake House is just two miles from Lake Windermere and a short distance from Oxenholme Station.
